It’s hard work out there for many small businesses so it’s so great to take the time to acknowledge this and celebrate success! Thursday 26th January 2023 saw the first Shaftesbury Business Awards with a ceremony held in The Grosvenor Arms in town. Over 150 nominations were received with 15 superb businesses highlighted on the day.
It was a fabulous event. It’s never been more important to support our town and our local small businesses and it was fabulous to join together for a lunch, to network and to recognise the diveristy and collective efforts of our successful businesses.
60 local businesses joined in on the day and enjoyed a lunch followed by the awards presentation. Anne and I were in the midst, there to present the award for Excellence in Customer Service as a Sponsor.
We presented the award to worthy winners Elite Garages who moved to the area just under a year ago, have brought new life to an unused building, have a 5 start rating and many many happy customers. Congratulations to Elite!
The Awards continued and highly acclaimed Accountants and Financial Advisers Ward Goodman joined the stage to present the award for B2B Business of the Year. As they spoke about how the winner had received many excellent nominations for offering small businesses the chance to thrive and grow and about them giving start-ups a first home for their business and a cost effective and flexible option we laughed about how it ” sounds like us”. They went on to describe the winner as ‘A perfect example of a B2B Business that offers many businesses the chance to find a base to work from or if they work from home a place to hold those important meetings’ and then ………announced The Wincombe Centre as the winner!!
We didn’t know that we had been nominated so it was a fabulous surprise and we were so pleased and proud to have won.
Thank you so much to whoever nominated us for this award. We work really hard to provide as good a service as possible to all of our businesses whether nervously starting out, growing into a thriving business, or even downsizing to keep profitable and try to support them in any way we can, so it was a really lovely thing to be recognised.
Congratulations and well done to ALL of the worthy winners. What a fabulous town we live in with such wonderful people. Tune in to This is Alfred radio station to hear from the winners or click on the link below – starts at 3:33 minutes (https://thisisalfred.com)
