The Wincombe Centre has had a cracking few months. Here’s a catch up on all the fun.
The Shaftesbury & Gillingham Business Awards ceremony on 14th July was a tremendously joyous experience. As headline sponsors, we were proud to join organiser and host Nigel Reeve from Marketing West and presented the following awards:

It was a thrill to see one of our Wincombe businessmen Franc Carlod receive the ‘Young Entrepreneur of the Year’ award. Franc joined us with his taxidermy business in April and is thriving. Self-taught Franc learnt his specialist trade skills by volunteering and shadowing others. All the clever stuff happens in his workshop offsite, but his offices serve not only for admin, framing and packing, but also as a little Natural History Museum! A truly well-deserved award!
And then, just when I thought my time on the mic was over, something rather fun happened and we won an award too! We won ‘Best Place to Work’ in Shaftesbury. What an honour. It’s true we believe that when people enjoy coming into work, businesses thrive, and we work hard at creating a welcoming, supportive environment where people feel valued but really this award belongs to everyone who has chosen to be part of our community over the years. Each person brings energy, friendship, laughter in the corridors and a real sense of belonging that makes The Wincombe Centre so much more than just a place to work.
In early July we were lucky to welcome the first of our useful FREE consultation days. Tenants were invited to book a slot to meet with Sam Kingsley from Utilise AI to see if AI could make a real difference to the way we worked and ran our businesses. It was a real insight into the future! Hopefully the Wincombe businesses that attended found it interesting.
In September we will have our second instalment when we welcome Kirsty and Michael from Enliven Marketing for a marketing clarity sessions designed to answer all of our marketing questions (which lets face it, as owners of small businesses having to be skilled in every element to running a company, we most definitely have!) We can’t wait!
and finally……
We decided to embrace World Cup Fever this year so began a FREE Wincombe World Cup Sweepstake in June. All the businesses drew or were drawn a country and the games began!
CONGRATULATIONS to Daniel House and his team at DH Accounting who won with SPAIN! A fitting winner for our sweepstake as this month Daniel has also celebrated another milestone in that he has been at the centre for TWELVE YEARS!! Back in 2014 he took over from Geoffrey Spencer’s long-established accountancy practice in the very offices where Daniel still resides, bringing with him his first clients, energy, enthusiasm and a vision for the future. Twelve years on, he’s built a thriving business, grown a fantastic tea, embraced change and technology and always seems to be one step ahead of the curve. So it was a double celebration for the team which we shared during our WINCOMBE SUMMER PARTY which this year took the form of a POST WORLD CUP CELEBRATION LUNCH.
We were blessed with the weather and gathered on the rear patio.
